Just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier! It’s been about three months since my wife, SophieS (Zsofi), and I, Rag decided to embark on a project that combined our dreams, hobbies, and talents. We’ve just finished our website, created our social media accounts, and added a few videos and portfolio pictures. We also have plans to do some live streaming on a few platforms to help drive traffic to our site.
The project is in a very early state with very few viewing numbers, but they are growing very slowly as we expected.
The plan ‘was’ to travel around Europe and create videos about our motorcycle adventures while also building a modeling portfolio for SophieS that would hopefully inspire other over 40s that you are never too old to try new things and live life to its fullest. We would also be doing this while maintaining our daytime jobs and relying heavily on holidays and weekends.
Well, that was the plan. It was a good plan, a safe plan, a sensible plan, but no, that wasn’t enough for my crazy wife and myself. Whatever could we do to improve our genius venture? Oh, I know, let’s sell everything we own, find some way of taking our two border collies with us, and hit the road permanently! If we are unable to make a living along the way, the sale of the house will keep us going for a year. Who wouldn’t want to give that a go, right??
Is this a crazy idea? Good god, yes! Is this even possible? Buggered if I know! Could we end up with nothing at the end? Very likely!
So why do it?
So what is the answer?
The answer to that question is in our lifetime, we all have a bunch of ideas about all the different things we can do to change our lives, and usually, due to the need for financial safety, we very often never see these ideas through. But every now and again, that one idea throws itself into the headlights of your brain and refuses to shift! An idea that is so compelling, an idea that feels like the stars have aligned and a fog has lifted to reveal a thought that has now become so tangible, realistic, and emotional that it simply cannot be ignored no matter how hard you try.
Is it a risk? Yes, it is, but you need to take risks in order to reap the rewards of life. Everything we need to survive on the road and make a living is just knowledge and execution. We learn, we do, we improve. We could play it safe, but what would our story be in ten years’ time? Would we spend our golden years thinking ‘What if we tried?’ For me, it’s about not having any regrets and being able to tell amazing stories to inspire others.
I could say things like ‘oh, it’s not about the money’, but that would be untrue. It’s very much about the money! Because money keeps us on the road, doing what we love, and creating memories and stories to tell. Don’t ever believe anyone that says it’s not about money because money helps you chase your dreams, even if they are crazy.
Why do it?
Our mindset is that we believe we can be successful in our project and can’t wait to see it evolve into something else. We want to make an impact on the world that would be of benefit to others, this could be through charity work or simply getting one person up off their arse to go and chase a dream. Mostly, it’s about trying. We try, we succeed, yay us. We try, we fail, we learn, we start again, but we will never regret!
So, why not follow us on this crazy mission of ours to chase life and grab it by the horns and ride it as long as we can? We will keep you up to date with all our planning and how everything is going as we dismantle our current life and turn it into something special, and of course, we will be creating our travel videos, portfolio content, and other fun insights into gear and destinations we come across.
Laughter, tears, and punctures should be our motto going forward, but we are hoping for it to be Stupid grins, new friends, and the adventure of a lifetime!
